IONA, N.S. - The 53rd Annual Highland Village Day Concert takes place Saturday.

The concert will take place in Iona at the Highland Village museum. It will continue its tradition of showcasing local talent in song and dance.

The concert’s tradition began on August 4, 1962 when the museum first opened, marking years of hard work to build the region’s community. To celebrate the occasion, a Scottish concert was held on site and was a great success. Highland Village Day continues to celebrate and preserve the Scottish Gaelic culture in Nova Scotia.

This year’s performers include Helen MacDonald & Scott MacKenzie, Courtney MacPherson, Iona Gaelic Singers, Will’s Addiction, Donnie Campbell, Allie Bennett, Dawn MacDonald-Gillis & Kyle Gillis, Alyssa MacNeil, Cyril MacPhee, Boisdale Trio, Andy MacMullin, Drea Shepherd & Susan MacLean, Dwanye Côté, Stephanie MacDonald, Elizabeth & Malcolm Matheson & Darlene Ellis, Campbell Girls, Rachel MacKinnon, Buddy MacDonald & Rachel Davis.
