The sun is setting earlier now that summer is behind us.

However, instead of closing up shop after dark, Centennial Park in Moncton is offering obstacle courses and zip-lining after the lights go out.

Every participant is handed a headlight, which is powerful enough to light up what is in front of them.

Any farther than four metres away, and you're on your own, which makes zip-lining through the trees a totally new experience.

“To be out with the headlight on, it casts a different shadow in the trees. You get a little more focused in on the course itself,” says zip-liner, Robert Shortall.

Some people find an obstacle course that is 20 metres up in the trees terrifying to do at night, but for a few others, it is the opposite.

“At night it almost feels like you're going through a tunnel because you're only seeing the trees that are lit up around you in a circle shape. So even that's pretty neat to see,” says zip-lining guide, Keith Henry. “We had one lady that came through. She specifically wanted to do her first time at night so she didn't see how high she was and she loved it.”

Organizers say additional benefits of zip-lining at night include fewer bugs and cooler temperatures.
