A Northern Patrol Mission from 14 Wing Greenwood in Nova Scotia just barely got off the ground Thursday morning.

The pilot of the CP-140 Aurora aborted the flight before it was off the runway.

The military says the plane skidded of the tarmac and came to a stop in the grass around 11:15 a.m.

There were 17 crew members onboard but no one was hurt.

Investigators are trying to sort out what caused the aborted takeoff.
