First launched in September 1982, Live at 5 introduced the news magazine format to Canada. Today, Live at 5 is the Maritime's most popular news and current affairs program, consistently drawing over 210,000 viewers from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.

Live at 5 owes its popularity to its ability to connect Maritimers with each other through stories that reach across regional borders. Co-hosts of the show, Starr Dobson and Bruce Frisko, roam throughout the working news studio in Halifax presenting a variety of live interviews, reports and news and lifestyle features from around the Maritimes. Popular meteorologist Cindy Day provides the most accurate regional weather forecasts using the world's most powerful weather observation and forecasting tool - TRUE VIEW. While Maria Panopalis, the host of Section Six, presents an entertaining look at the regional arts and culture scene, Live at 5 also features a variety of daily and weekly segments that viewers have come to count on, including Milestones, Plays of the Week, Housecalls and Maritimer of the Week.

While Live at 5 is broadcast from the CTV Atlantic studio in Halifax, people and resources from across the entire region contribute to its success. Live at 5 also travels throughout Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island and can be found at festivals, fundraisers, parades, exhibits and a huge variety of other events and activities that matter to Maritimers.

An important part of the Maritime community for over 25 years, Live at 5 is extremely proud of its commitment to the social and cultural growth of the region.
