MONTAGUE, P.E.I. -- A 28-year-old man from Alberta has been charged with arson after a fire last year that burned down a building in Prince Edward Island.

The fire on Nov. 26 caused extensive damage to the Co-operators Insurance building in Montague.

A police and Fire Marshall's Office investigation determined the fire started in an apartment in the building.

Michael Allan Gilbert of Red Deer has been charged with arson and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 19.

The RCMP say they believe Gilbert and a woman who lived in the apartment know each other.

Police say the woman wasn't home and no one was injured in the fire.
