Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man wanted in connection with an attempted murder in Halifax.

Officers responded to a report of a disturbance in the area of Brunswick and Artz streets before 4 p.m. Wednesday and found a 46-year-old man at the scene.

Police determined the man had been struck with a blunt object during the altercation. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

An arrest warrant has been issued for a 24-year-old Halifax man in connection with the incident.

Police say Arnelle Wellington Ellison is facing charges of attempted murder, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts of breaching court orders.

Ellison is described as a black man with black hair and brown eyes. He is six-foot-two inches and weighs 185 pounds.

Investigators believe Ellison is still in the Halifax area. They say he is considered dangerous and shouldn’t be approached if spotted. Anyone who sees him should call police.

A 49-year-old Halifax woman has also been charged in connection with the alleged altercation.

Christelle Ellison was arrested Wednesday night and is facing three counts of accessory after the fact for allegedly assisting the suspect following the incident.
