RCMP have confirmed that the body found in Lincoln, N.B., is that of 49-year-old Steven Robbins of Fredericton.

Police were called to the shores of the St. John River in Lincoln at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Robbins was reported missing on April 27 after he walked away from the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, where he was a patient. At the time, his family said they were worried he was a danger to himself. He was being treated for pneumonia, dehydration and psychological issues.

The hospital has not commented on his disappearance.

Robbins’s sister Christine Gore said the family was notified Saturday evening. She said they were not optimistic he would be found alive, given how much time had passed since his disappearance, but “were wishing for something different.”

RCMP say an autopsy will be conducted, but foul play is not suspected.
