RCMP have identified a scuba diver whose body was recovered in Cape Breton’s Victoria County Sunday night.

Police say a group of ten recreational scuba divers were diving near New Campbellton Sunday afternoon.

When they left the water just before 4 p.m. they discovered one of the divers was missing.

RCMP and the Canadian Coast Guard conducted a search of the area, along with local volunteer firefighters and fishermen.

A fisherman found the man’s body near the New Campbellton Road shoreline around 7:40 p.m. Sunday.

Arthur Dennis McNeil, 56, was from the Baddeck area.

An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death but police say they do not suspect foul play.
