The RCMP say a body recovered from the Petitcodiac River in Riverview, N.B., on Wednesday is that of a missing 21-year-old man.

Riverview Fire Rescue received several calls around 4 p.m. from residents saying a body was floating down the river towards the Greater Moncton area.

First responders say three detachments worked together to recover the body.

“In this case, we had a boat situated above the causeway,” said Robin True of Riverview Fire Rescue. “We were unable to traverse the causeway itself. It's really imperative to have three departments involved with these water rescues.”

The Riverview man was reported missing by his family and had not been seen at his residence since June 13.

Police say the investigation is ongoing but foul play is not suspected.
