A Nova Scotia man has been identified as the victim of a homicide in Edmonton.

Police say a fight broke out between two men at a truck stop outside a motel early Wednesday morning in west Edmonton.

The victim stumbled into the lobby of the Super 8 motel around 2:30 a.m. with multiple stab wounds to his upper body.

He was rushed to hospital but later died.

"Members initially started aggresive CPR and CPR was continued all the way from the scene all the way to the hospital where, unfortunately, the male died," says Edmonton Police Staff Sgt. Barry Maron. "We're currently looking for witnesses that may have been around."

The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Ashley John George MacNeil of Cape Breton.

An autopsy has been performed in Edmonton.

Police say there is no word on a suspect in the case.

The incident is Edmonton's sixth homicide this year.
