A Cape Breton woman who lost her beloved wedding ring received the best Valentine’s Day gift she could’ve asked for this week.

For the past couple of months, Paulette Corbett says she’s been reminded of the precious heirloom every time she glanced at her finger.

Corbett tearfully shared her story with CTV News just before Christmas on what would have been her and her late husband's wedding anniversary.

After watching the broadcast, a local jewelry store owner offered to give her a replacement ring at no charge in Sydney River, N.S.

“It means a lot,” she said. “I feel like… he’s with me again.”

Corbett’s original wedding ring had been a Christmas gift from her husband who died less than a year ago.

She was already faced with spending her first Christmas without him, but just days before the holidays, her ring went missing while she was out shopping.

Just shy of two months later, her replacement ring was ready for pick up on Saturday. Corbett says she cried of happiness.

"This won't replace what you lost, but we hope it will be pretty close," said store owner Glenn Tutty.

“It’s very close,” responded Corbett. “Thank you.”

Tutty said the store was more than happy to do what they could to help Corbett.

"We could count it as both a Christmas gift and a Valentine’s gift,” Tutty says.

While it’s not the original ring, Corbett says she has peace of mind because the new symbol of love has a lifetime warranty on it.
