The RCMP are investigating after 4,800 pounds of live lobster were stolen from an outdoor pound at a business on Cape Sable Island, N.S.

Police say 48 crates each containing 100 pounds of live lobster were stolen from the business sometime between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.

This is the second major theft of lobster from southwestern Nova Scotia in just over a month.

Fourteen crates each containing 100 pounds of lobster were taken from a secure compound at the Morris Island Wharf between Dec. 7 and Dec. 8.

Anyone with information about either theft is asked to contact police.
