The second month of meteorological summer is underway and while it didn’t get off to a very nice start, this week is going to be amazing!

Over the past few days I chatted with a number of people who comment on the weather… imagine J

Most of them were excited about turning the calendar page because they felt that June was terrible.  That’s not how I remembered the month so I spent some time crunching numbers for all three maritime provinces.  My findings will certainly surprise some of you:

New Brunswick:

                                                         June 2017                                Normal

Average daytime high:                        22.7                                       22.8

Average overnight low:                        9.2                                           9.6

Average temperature:                        15.9                                         16.2

Rainfall:                                              59.8 mm                                 88.6 mm

Nova Scotia:

                                                         June 2017                                Normal

Average daytime high:                        21.2                                       20.3

Average overnight low:                       10.3                                         9.6

Average temperature:                        15.7                                        15.0

Rainfall:                                             69.3 mm                                 98.3 mm

Prince Edward Island:

                                                         June 2017                                Normal

Average daytime high:                        20.5                                       19.6

Average overnight low:                       10.5                                         9.6

Average temperature:                        15.5                                         14.6

Rainfall:                                              85.0 mm                                 93.2 mm

To recap, it was a little warmer than normal across Nova Scotia and PEI.  New Brunswick’s average temperature was only 3/10 of a degree below normal.

In terms of rainfall, all three provinces received below average rainfall.

Overall, I think we fared quite well.
