A 24-year-old man is facing robbery and assault charges after he allegedly stole a cellphone from another man in Halifax last week.

Halifax Regional Police say a 21-year-old man was trying to sell his phone in the Thomas Raddall Drive area around 8:30 p.m. Thursday. However, they say he was assaulted with a knife and robbed.

The man sustained a cut to his hand and was treated at the scene.

Police found several stolen phones while searching for the suspect.

They arrested a Dartmouth man in the 200 block of Princess Margaret Boulevard on Saturday.

He is due in Halifax provincial court Monday to face charges of robbery with a weapon, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, uttering threats and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
