Halifax Regional Police are searching for a man who knocked on a Dartmouth door and sprayed the resident in the face with an irritant.

Police say they responded to the call on Stephen Street at 10:18 p.m. on Friday night.

They say a 62-year-old man answered a knock at the door, then was sprayed with a sensory irritant.

The victim slammed the door on the suspect, who then fled the scene on foot.

Paramedics assessed and treated the man at his home.

The suspect is described as a five-foot-seven white man in his 20’s with a slim build.

He was wearing a navy blue hoodie and a hat at the time of the incident.
