An elderly man has died following a two-vehicle collision in Port Hastings, N.S.

RCMP and emergency crews responded to Highway 4 around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say it appears a Chevrolet sedan with two occupants collided with an oil delivery truck

Both occupants of the sedan were trapped and the Jaws of Life were used to free them from the vehicle.

The driver, 87-year-old Donald John Ferguson of Skye Glen, was taken to St. Martha's Hospital in Antigonish, where he died from his injuries.

An 84-year-old female passenger was taken to St. Martha's Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. She remains in hospital.

The driver of the oil truck, a 36-year-old Port Hawkesbury man, was not injured in the collision.

Police are still investigating but say charges won’t be laid.
