Firefighters rescued a child who was trapped inside a vehicle following a single-vehicle collision in Musquash, N.B. on the weekend.

The Musquash Fire Department responded to the crash on Highway 1 around 1:43 p.m. Sunday.

When fire crews arrived on scene, they found a Jeep in the median with a child trapped inside, while the driver was outside of the vehicle.

Firefighters quickly stabilized the vehicle and extricated the child. There is no word on the extent of the child’s or of the driver’s injuries at this time.

A witness told emergency crews the vehicle rolled about five times before coming to a stop.

The highway was shut down for a short period of time as firefighters cleared the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
