Police say the charges against a man in connection with a drug-related murder in Halifax have been amended.

Simon Peter Dugas of Halifax was arrested without incident at the Halifax International Stanfield Airport Monday.

He was originally charged with the attempted murder of 31-year-old William Lee Boliver and first-degree murder in the death of 36-year-old Corey Duane Lucas.

Dugas appeared in Halifax provincial court yesterday to face the charges, but police say they withdrew the charges today, after consulting with the Crown.

Instead, Dugas is now facing a charge of accessory after the fact.

The charge stems from an incident on May 25 when two men – one armed with a handgun – entered a residence at 2711 Clifton Street.

Police say a dispute took place and multiple shots were fired during the altercation, striking both Boliver and Lucas.

Lucas was pronounced dead at the scene while Boliver was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries

Police say two men were seen running away from the building after the shooting.

Last month, police arrested 20-year-old Dylan Peter Roach of Halifax in connection with the incident. He is facing charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder, while Jenna Karlene Piercy of Prospect, N.S. is facing a charge of accessory after the fact in connection with the case.
