NORTH SYDNEY, N.S. - A broken water pipe has forced the closure of a Nova Scotia emergency department.

The ER at the Northside General Hospital in North Sydney unexpectedly closed yesterday after the basement flooded.

The Cape Breton District Health Authority says the closure will remain in effect until the damage is assessed and cleanup is complete.

Anyone needing emergency care is advised to call 911 or go to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney.
