Fog is hindering the search for a scuba diver swept away by the strong currents in the Bay of Fundy yesterday.

RCMP say the 48-year-old Ottawa man is a relatively inexperienced diver.

He was diving for sea urchins with two friends around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday when he was swept away.

The other divers told police they witnessed him getting pulled away by the current in Grand Passage, near Westport.

The Canadian Coast Guard, Canadian Forces Search and Rescue helicopter and the RCMP searched the area off the Digby coast Wednesday without success.

The search is back on today and ground searchers have also been called in.

No decisions have been made about launching an air search.
