A forest fire has destroyed a section of land in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley.

The fire was under control Sunday evening but not completely extinguished.

It broke out near New Albany around 3:00 p.m. Saturday.

Eight volunteer fire departments and a Department of National Resources helicopter were called in to help battle the blaze.

DNR says the fire has burned about 19 hectares of forest.

About 300 Nova Scotia Power customers were without power over the weekend because of the fire.

The cause has not yet been determined and there are no reports of any injuries.
