The future of the football program at Saint Francis Xavier University is up in the air.

A presidential task force has determined the current football program is economically unsustainable and may need to be cut.

The tam has strong alumni support and draws steady crowds on game day, but X-football scores significantly lower in cost effectiveness, with the highest deficit of any varsity team.

“The recommendation is that the program needs to change substantially, or it needs to be considered to be cut,” says academic vice-president Leslie MacLaren.

No action will be taken for about a year as feedback is gathered from students, staff, alumni, and the community.
