Garbage truck hits utility pole, knocks out power for 1,200 in Halifax

HALIFAX -- More than 1,000 utility customers are without power after a garbage truck struck a utility pole in Halifax.

Police say officers were called to a gas station on Quinpool Road after the truck hit the power pole Monday morning.

Nova Scotia Power says about 1,200 customers are without power in the area.

Police say a section of Quinpool Road will be closed as power crews fix the damaged pole and downed lines.
