SAINT JOHN, N.B. -- Police in New Brunswick say they expect a five-year-old girl to make a full recovery after she was pulled from the bottom of a pool in Saint John.

Sgt. Lori Magee of the Saint John police says the girl was spotted by a lifeguard at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre in a leisure pool Sunday evening.

She says the girl was revived following one round of CPR by a lifeguard.

Magee says she was taken to hospital for 24 hours of observation and doctors say she is expected to fully recover.

The girl was swimming with friends and adults, including her mother.

Magee says she was likely under the water for less than a minute since a lifeguard had checked the area where she was found about 45 seconds before that.
