HALIFAX - A man is dead after a bar fight in Halifax early Saturday morning.

Police say 23-year-old James Mattatall of Dartmouth died in hospital shortly before 2 p.m. on Saturday and they have ruled his death a homicide.

Police say an altercation inside the Toothy Moose bar on Argyle Street around 3 a.m. spilled outside where Mattatall was knocked to the ground.

Const. Brian Palmeter says it is not clear if Mattatall was involved in the altercation inside the bar.

He says police have released photos of a man believed to have been in the area at the time of the incident in hopes of identifying him.
