A 25-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of a 26-year-old man in the Halifax area.

Police responded to a report of an unresponsive man in an apartment building on Autumn Drive in Spryfield around 12:15 p.m. Wednesday. Officers located the body of a man inside a unit in the building.

Police say the man had been stabbed and his death has been ruled a homicide. The victim has been identified as Blaine Gordon Clothier of Halifax.

Police arrested a man in the 5000 block of Inglis Street around 2 p.m. Wednesday. Benjamin Joshua Gillis of Halifax has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the incident.

He is due to appear in Halifax provincial court Thursday.

Police say the incident remains under investigation and they are asking anyone with information to contact them.
