Six people are facing drug charges after police searched three homes in the Halifax area this week. Police say the searches were unrelated.

Police search Spryfield home

Police executed a search warrant at a home in the 100 block of Lavender Walk in Spryfield around 8 p.m. Wednesday.

They seized a quantity of marijuana, cash and drug paraphernalia in the raid.

A 30-year-old Halifax man and a 22-year-old Halifax woman have been charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

They are due to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date.

Drugs seized from Herring Cove Road home

Police also searched an apartment in the 300 block of Herring Cove Road around 4 p.m. Thursday.

They seized marijuana, cash and drug paraphernalia in the raid.

A 59-year-old Halifax man faces a charge of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

He is due to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date.

Traffic stop leads to drug search

Yesterday, police stopped a car in the 100 block of Roleika Drive in Dartmouth around 9 p.m. They found two cans of pepper spray in the car.

The male driver and two male passengers were arrested at the scene without incident.

A subsequent search of a home in the area resulted in the seizure of marijuana plants and grow-op equipment.

Steven Thomas Hoskin, 23, of Dartmouth has been charged with two counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon and one count each of carrying a concealed weapon, cultivation of cannabis and breach of a court order.

Hoskins was held in custody overnight and is due to appear in Dartmouth provincial court today.

Two 19-year-old Dartmouth men are also facing charges of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, possession of a prohibited weapon and cultivation of cannabis.
