TIGNISH, P.E.I. -- Four fishermen were saved from their sinking fishing vessel off the coast of New Brunswick this morning.

Lt.-Cmdr. Bruno Tremblay of Joint Task Force Atlantic says the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Halifax received a distress signal at around 4 a.m. from a vessel about 150 kilometres east of Shippagan, N.B.

Tremblay says when a Cormorant helicopter and Hercules aircraft were sent to the scene, they found The Cadillac Style, a fishing vessel from Tignish, P.E.I., already partially submerged.

A search and rescue technician jumped in the water and helped the vessel's four crew as they were hoisted into the waiting helicopter.

Tremblay says the four were flown to a hospital in Charlottetown as a routine precaution, but no one was reported injured in the accident.

Tremblay says RCMP will be conducting an investigation to determine what caused the ship to sink.
