A high school principal appeared in Miramichi provincial court today to face child pornography charges.
The RCMP say 37-year-old Kirk Matheson of Miramichi, N.B. has been charged with two counts of luring, one count of possession of child pornography and one count of counseling to commit an offence.
Matheson is the principal of North and South Esk Regional High School in Sunny Corner, just outside Miramichi.
Police say Matheson is accused of posing on the Internet as a woman and enticing boys to send him nude photos of themselves.
Police say they have identified two of the victims as area residents.
Matheson has been released on strict conditions, which include staying away from North and South Esk Regional High School and no contact with minors.
He is due back in court on June 11.
