MONCTON, N.B. -- A hospital in New Brunswick says its internal report on a doctor who accessed the medical files of 141 women over two years will be completed in the fall.
The Vitality Health Network issued a news release Thursday in response to the provincial privacy commissioner's investigation into the actions of Dr. Fernando Rojas Lievano.
The report detailed how the radio-oncologist at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont University Hospital Centre accessed the files of women who weren't his patients.
It made five recommendations to the health network, including that it consider disciplinary measures against Rojas and conduct more random audits of how doctors access patient data.
Vitality says it is reviewing the report and the recommendations as it completes its own inquiry into Rojas' accessing of files from Sept. 1, 2010 to Jan. 18, 2013.
It confirmed that Rojas is still employed at the hospital, but says he hasn't been at the site since February.
