No one was injured but an investigation is underway after a garage fire in the Halifax area.

Firefighters were called to a home on Old Sambro Road late Monday afternoon.

Investigators believe the fire started in the back corner of the building, which is attached to a home.

Crews say the fire was contained to the garage and the space above, although they laid some tarps in the home to protect personal items from water.

The home remains intact.

“Nobody was in the house. We cleared the house, basement and the first level,” says Halifax Regional Fire division commander Andrew Bednarz. “The fire did extend into the attic space. We proceeded to do a trench cut on the roof.”

Investigators are trying to determine how the fire started.
