The IWK Health Centre has taken to social media in the hopes of reuniting a lost bunny with its rightful owner.

Hospital officials say the stuffed animal was left at the children’s hospital sometime last month.

“He was found in our gallery at the IWK about three or four weeks ago and we still haven’t found his little owner,” says executive assistant Alison Lucio. “He really misses his family so we want him to go home.”

“It’s hugely important for kids and families to bring comfort items with them to the hospital,” says child life specialist Jane Marchildeon. “We know that the hospital can be very unfamiliar and threatening to kids and families.”

Hospital officials posted a picture of the bunny on Facebook in the hopes of tracking down its owner:

“This handsome fellow is hopping to be reunited with his family. He has been hare at the IWK keeping us entertained for the last two weeks but he is getting homesick. Lettuce hope by spreading the word they show up soon!”

“We’ve had almost 8,000 shares. We’ve reached over 300,000 individuals, probably more, at this point,” says IWK spokesperson Kathryn London-Penny.

The bunny’s tag doesn’t reveal much, except that it was made in China and stuffed with new, white material.
