A 61-year-old man from Little Tancook Island, N.S. has been handed a life sentence for killing his daughter’s boyfriend last summer.

Earlier this month, Terry Roy Levy was found guilty of second-degree murder in the shooting death of 47-year-old Terry Green.

Green’s body was found in a field on Little Tancook Island on July 8, 2014.

Levy will be eligible for parole in 11-and-a-half years.

Shortly after Green’s body was found, Levy was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, later pleading not guilty to the charge.

About 20 people live on Little Tancook Island year-round.

At the time of the incident, Levy’s neighbours told CTV News that he was known to be eccentric, but was well liked in the community.
