The man accused of killing Halifax yoga teacher Kristin Johnston has been ordered to have no contact or communication with more than 20 people.

Police allege 33-year-old Nicholas Jordan Butcher was in a relationship with the victim. He is charged with second-degree murder.

On Wednesday, his legal aid lawyer requested a month to review disclosure.

The Crown says if Butcher makes application for bail they will oppose it, given the concerns for the safety of the public in this case.

Crown attorney Carla Ball says there is a lot of information to be reviewed.

"The volume, as in any homicide, is quite high,” said Ball. “There's lots of documents, lots of material to cover so we will be working diligently over the next few weeks, months reviewing it."

Butcher was arrested the same day officers found the body of 32-year-old Johnston inside her Purcells Cove home. He was immediately taken to hospital.

Butcher is scheduled to return to court on May 24.
