Halifax Regional Police say a six hour standoff with a man wanted for assault in Dartmouth ended peacefully Sunday morning.

Police say they attended the 100 block of Nadia Drive around 4:30 a.m. to arrest a 31-year-old man for assault.

Police say the suspect refused to exit the home.

Officers and an emergency response team made contact with the man, who exited the home around 10:30 a.m.

The suspect will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on Monday to face charges of assault, forcible confinement and issuing threats.
