A 28-year-old man is facing a slew of charges as the RCMP investigate what they are calling “multiple historical sexual assaults” reported at a residential daycare in Kingston, N.S.

Sources say the daycare is unlicensed and has been operating for 20 years.

Kings District RCMP received information on Tuesday that a youth was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man who lives in the residence on Old French Road.

Police say, since they started investigating, two additional alleged victims have come forward. Police allege the assaults happened between 2006 and 2010.

On Wednesday, Kingston RCMP arrested and laid eight charges against 28-year-old Jeffrey Roy Casey. Police say he doesn't work at the daycare, but lives in the home.

Neighbours told CTV News the operator of the daycare is the mother of the accused.

Casey appeared in Kentville provincial court Thursday to face three counts of sexual interference, three counts of sexual assault and two counts of invitation to sexual touching.

Casey was released on conditions to live at the address where the daycare is located. He's also been ordered to not have contact with anyone under the age of 16, unless the child is with a parent or guardian.

Police say they believe more charges are possible.

“There could be several more victims and we would like anyone who had children who attended this daycare over the last ten years to contact us right away if they have concerns there child may have been a victim of this as well,” says NS RCMP Cpl. Jennifer Clarke. “It was horrible to think that this could've happened to someone's child and depending on the number of victims it is quite a significant case for us.”

Neighbours hearing the news, expressed shock and didn't want to say much, only that they will wait to find out more as the case goes to court.

“I got a little queasy in the stomach especially with it being historic,” says one Kingston resident.

“They've always been polite to us... that's all I can go by,” says a neighbour.

Casey is due back in court on Oct. 25.

Investigators say there may be other alleged victims and they are asking anyone with information to contact police.
