A man is facing charges after another man was allegedly attacked with a baseball bat in Dartmouth.

Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of several people fighting in the street near Trinity Avenue and Nadia Drive shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Police located a 35-year-old man who had been assaulted. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers arrested a 34-year-old man and seized a baseball bat.

The suspect is due in Dartmouth provincial court to face charges of possession of a weapon and assault with a weapon.

Police say the incident was not random as the victim and suspect were known to each other.
