A 22-year-old man is facing charges after an 18-year-old man was stabbed in Dartmouth Wednesday afternoon.

Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a disturbance outside Alderney Landing around 2:36 p.m.

Police say there was a group of about five people in the area when a fight broke out between two men.

One man sustained a stab wound to his hand and a broken finger. He was taken to hospital to non-life-threatening injuries.

Police located the suspect a short distance away and he was arrested without incident.

Donavin Andrew Diggs of Dartmouth is due to appear in court Thursday to face charges of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and five counts of breach of a probation order.

Police say the incident wasn’t a random act as Diggs and his alleged victim are known to one another.
