SAINT-LEONARD, N.B. - A man in his early 40s died early Saturday after the pickup truck he was driving and the trailer being towed went off the Trans-Canada Highway in northwestern New Brunswick.

RCMP spokesman Const. Erik White says that the Ford pickup and the trailer crashed at about 8 a.m. on a downward slope on the double-lane highway between Siegas and Saint-Leonard.

White says the driver was towing a 10-metre trailer with his Ford pickup truck when it jack-knifed on the highway and rolled over.

The constable says the double-lane highway was slightly icy in the morning but investigators are still trying to determine why the pickup truck and trailer slid off the road.

The investigator says the man's tires were studded and in good condition.
