A member of the Canadian Armed Forces is facing child pornography charges after police searched an apartment in Halifax early Friday.

Police say they seized computer equipment and cellphones from the apartment on Brunswick Street. A suspect was arrested at the scene.

Cpl. Colin Bernard Doucette, 21, is facing charges of possession of child pornography, accessing child pornography, and making available child pornography.

The Department of National Defence confirms Doucette is a military clerk.

He was released from custody under conditions not to communicate with children under the age of 16, not to possess a device able to access the internet and not be within 50 metres of a place known to be frequented by children.

Doucette is due to appear in Halifax provincial court on Oct. 23.
