A man is in custody in connection with a violent home invasion that left an elderly woman injured in the Fredericton area Tuesday morning.
Police say a man entered a home in Nashwaaksis around 1 a.m. and assaulted an elderly woman who was home at the time.
The man fled the home with an undisclosed amount of money and property. Police allege he also stole the woman’s vehicle.
The woman sustained moderate injuries and is being treated in hospital.
Miramichi Police arrested the suspect and located the woman’s vehicle Tuesday morning.
Charges are expected.
