A house that was slated to be demolished was the site of a major fire in Sackville, N.S. on Friday night.

Officials say they were called to the home around 8:30 p.m.

When they arrived, the fire had engulfed the structure as well as a small excavator next to the building.

No one was in the two-storey structure at the time and fire officials say they house was in the process of being demolished.

“The crew’s basically doing a surround and drown,” said Gary McCurdy, a division commander with Halifax Fire.

There is still no word on the cause of the fire and investigators are still working to determine whether or not it’s suspicious.
