Police in Fredericton are investigating new pieces of evidence in connection with the assault of a man in the city in September.

Officers were called to the area of Douglas Avenue and Main Street around 4:30 a.m. on Sept. 13.

They found 46-year-old Peter Bryden unresponsive and suffering from serious injuries. They determined he had attended the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival hours before the alleged attack.

Bryden was taken to the Saint John Regional Hospital. Police say he is now receiving rehabilitation treatment in Fredericton and is gradually improving.

He has been able to communicate with investigators and, due to new information that came to light during the conversations, police conducted two ground searches on the city’s Northside over the weekend.

They recovered several pieces of evidence, which are currently being processed. They have not said what the evidence is.

Police say they are still asking for the public’s help as they continue to investigate the assault.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in the case. CrimeStoppers is offering $2,000 while concerned citizens have raised another $8,000.
