An unscheduled change to gas prices on Prince Edward Island has increased prices by four cents per litre on Saturday. Regular unleaded gasoline is now priced at between 109.7 cents per litre and 110.8 cents per litre.

The Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission says the increase is due to substantial increases in the wholesale price of gasoline over the last three weeks.

The regulated price of gas in all four Atlantic provinces has gone up in the last couple of weeks. Regular gas in Halifax is at 112.0 cents per litre, and the maximum price in Moncton, N.B., is 109.9 cents per litre.

The provincial regulator says wholesale prices are expected to continue to rise for the foreseeable future.

The next scheduled price adjustment in Prince Edward Island is on May 1.
