HALIFAX - Halifax police are investigating a pair of hit and runs, including one that has resulted in charges against a teenage boy.

The first happened last night around 7:40 when a vehicle making a U-turn on Herring Cove Road collided with another vehicle, pushing it into a ditch.

Police say a man, a woman and a toddler were taken to hospital as a precaution and later released.

The vehicle that fled the scene was later found on Old Sambro Road but no arrests have been made.

The second incident happened two hours later at the intersection of Lacewood Drive and Dunbrack Street.

Police say a vehicle collided with a car carrying three people, including a four-year-old girl, but didn't stop.

The victims were treated by paramedics at the scene.

Witnesses were able to provide police with a plate number of the vehicle that fled the scene.

Police say a 16-year-old boy is due in court at a later date on a Criminal Code charge of failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

He also faces a charge of failing to yield to a vehicle in an intersection under the Motor Vehicle Act.
