A 19-year-old man is facing five charges after an RCMP officer was hit by a truck Saturday afternoon.

Cody Andrew Prudhomme of Falmouth, N.S. will appear in Windsor provincial court Monday morning to face charges of dangerous driving causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, failing to stop for a police officer, resisting arrest and dangerous driving.

The 37-year-old RCMP officer injured in the incident remains in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Prudhomme was arrested around 7:15 p.m. Saturday after a series of events that took place over the course of an hour.

Around 6:05 p.m., an RCMP officer stopped a black Dodge Dakota on Highway 232, also known as Wentworth Road.

RCMP say the officer was hit by the truck as the male driver was backing up. The driver then fled the scene.

About an hour later, officers found the truck but the driver failed to stop when police attempted to pull him over.

Police say the driver eventually crashed his truck on Highway 354 near the Bull Meadows Range near Upper Rawdon where he was arrested.
