A man has been charged with allegedly stealing thousands of dollars from a Nova Scotia charity.

The RCMP received a complaint on Dec. 5 that someone was suspected of stealing money from the Annapolis Valley Honour Choir.

Police determined that roughly $14,000 had gone missing from the choir over a four-month period.

Police have charged a 53-year-old Coldbrook man following a nine-month investigation into the alleged theft.

Allan Joseph MacDonnell is charged with one count of fraud over $5,000. He is due to appear in Kentville provincial court on Dec. 7.
