A 25-year-old Moncton man is facing charges after a car was destroyed by fire in the city Wednesday evening.

Police responded to a residence on Glencairn Drive shortly before 6:45 p.m. after receiving a call that a fire had started in a vehicle parked next a home.

When officers arrived, they found a vehicle engulfed in flames. The house sustained minor damage but the car was destroyed.

No one was injured and police arrested a suspect a short time later.

William Dobson appeared in Moncton provincial court on Thursday to face charges of arson with disregard for human life, mischief and uttering threats.

He was remanded into custody and is due back in court on Monday.
