A man has been arrested and charged in connection with threats made to the Brookside Mall in Fredericton between March 5 and 6.

A spokesperson from the City of Fredericton says four threats were received on those dates. As a result, the Primary Response Team, Neighbourhood Action Team, Explosive Disposal Unit, Forensic Identification Team and Major Crime Team responded to the threats. The mall was evacuated so the mall could be searched.

Following the investigation, Adam L. Peterson was found to be connected with all four threats. Police say they arrested him on March 6.

The spokesperson says motives and other details about the threats will not be discussed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.

Police say there is no evidence of extremism behind the threats.

Peterson will appear in court on March 9.
