ALBANY, P.E.I. -- Police say a man is recovering after escaping a burning vehicle in Prince Edward Island.

RCMP say the vehicle crashed on Route 1 in Albany around 4:30 a.m. Saturday.

They say the vehicle went off the road, rolled into a ditch and caught fire.

Police say the driver and only occupant of the vehicle, a 32-year-old man, escaped the burning vehicle.

The Mounties say he was taken to hospital, but the extent of his injuries are not known.

The blaze was quickly extinguished by firefighters.
